What Is Raindrops?

In Raindrops, everyone is trying to complete Raindrop Cards by collecting colorful raindrop tiles from a shared window.

Each turn, you’ll create matching color paths to claim tiles, then place those tiles onto your cards. Finish a card and you’ll immediately draw another one to keep building your score.

It sounds simple—and it is—but there are plenty of interesting decisions along the way.

How to Play

Playing Raindrops is easy to learn.

Start with two Raindrop Cards.
Create matching color paths across the window.
Collect every connected raindrop tile.
Place those tiles onto your cards.
Complete cards to earn points and draw new ones.
Save extra tiles in your reserve if you can’t use them yet.
Use Bonus Tiles to change a color when you need a perfect fit—or save them for end-game points.

By the end of the game, you’ll be trying to complete sets while deciding whether it’s worth spending your Bonus Tiles or keeping them for scoring.

What Makes Raindrops So Cozy?

My favorite part isn’t actually the puzzle.

It’s watching the new raindrop tiles tumble out of the cloth bag to refill the window every round.

It’s such a small detail, but it makes the whole game feel calm, relaxing, and satisfying.

The artwork, colors, and components all come together to create an experience that fits the theme perfectly.

One Thing I Wish It Had

If I could change one thing about Raindrops, it would be adding a solo mode.

More and more games today include a way to enjoy them on your own, and I think Raindrops would be a perfect fit.

The whole theme feels peaceful. You’re watching colorful raindrops slide down a window, solving little puzzles at your own pace. It reminds me of sitting by a window with a warm drink while it rains outside. That experience almost begs for a quiet solo afternoon.

I found myself thinking, “I wish I could pull this off the shelf when no one else is home.”

Don’t get me wrong—it’s wonderful with other people. I just think this game had the potential to become an incredible solo experience too.

I’m hopeful DV Games considers releasing an official solo variant someday because I know I’d be first in line to play it.

Final Thoughts

Raindrops is the kind of game I can see reaching for on a rainy afternoon with a cup of coffee nearby.

It offers just enough strategy to keep things interesting while staying approachable for newer gamers. Every decision feels important, but the game never feels stressful.
